New Year’s Housebus Update!
Woohoo! Happy to be back with a ‘good news’ housebus update. Thanks to a couple very welcome gift cards this holiday season, I was able to run out to the store today to pick up some more enamel paint and a new brush, and finish painting the bare metal floor in the back half of the bus!
First I went through the last of the paint I started with, and mixed in a pint (!) of grey paint I got for a buck at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore last month. This mix didn’t go as far as I was hoping, you can see the grey patch in the rear-port corner in the photo here. Plus it had been left out in the bus during our recent cold snap and so it went down pretty thick. A great coat of paint, but not nearly enough. So, it was off to Home Depot!
And now look at that floor, all shiny and clean and freshly painted. I can’t wait to get back out there later this week and start installing the first 2x2s of my subfloor. Once I have enough of the subfloor down, I can move all the building materials piled up in the bus onto that area, freeing up the front half of the bus to finish pulling up the old rubber, treating the rust, gluing down pennies, and painting.
In fact, aside from probably another quart of this Rustoleum paint, I think I actually have all of the materials I need to completely finish out the subfloor and start on the walls and cabinets! It’s an exciting time, and I’m hoping to ride this wave of momentum and motivation all the way to a finished housebus!
Here’s a couple more pics of my progress today. Doesn’t look like much, I know, but it’s quite a little milestone for me.
