A small update today, as I’ve been making incremental progress on a couple things around the housebus.

The big thing today was that I finished installing the 2×2 horizontal runners that will be the basis of my port-side wall – one along the floor and one under the windowsill. These are basically going to be the ‘studs’ of the wall, giving me something to attach the wall facing to, and to mount electrical boxes and whatnot. I also started installing a 2×4 runner along the top of the windows, starting in the back. I’ll make more progress on the starboard wall tomorrow after I pick up some more 2x4s from the ReclaimNW store.

The other thing I’ve been working on has been trying to pull apart all the pallets and the big bed frame I picked up for free last week. It’s been a bigger challenge than I expected – the pallet wood is so soft that it shreds when I try to pry it apart, and the plywood crate was glued and stapled together so firmly that I think I’m going to have to just cut it into usable pieces. Which all means that there’s less usable wood than I’d hoped – at least for now. The pile of wood chips and busted boards is growing quickly though!

If all goes according to plan this weekend, I’ll be able to actually install my first actual dividing wall on Sunday! I’m excited.
