Housebus Progress: Feb 1, 2023
I’ve decided I’m going to start making just small updates every time I manage to get ANYthing done out in the housebus, rather than saving stuff up for one big update every couple weeks or so. So, here’s today’s latest!
Read more: Housebus Progress: Feb 1, 2023After grinding out all the rust on Section C of the floor the other day, I went back out today to glue pennies down to seal up all the holes leftover from the seats and the metal trim down the center aisle. First though I decided that, since I’m already working at the front end of the bus, it didn’t make any sense to not also do the subfloor for the cab/mudroom. So, I finished pulling all the rubber and metal panels off of that area, and the little angled metal faces of the driver’s seat platform. The new floor is going to come up close to the same level of the platform, and this is easier than trying to build around it. Besides, it was held on with little plastic screws, so it was hardly structural.
After I cleared all that up I did go ahead and glue down the pennies in Section C, and then spray paint all the new screw holes in the cab. I’m really excited to be making progress in the mudroom, I honestly wasn’t sure where it was going to fit into my overall plan other than ‘someday down the road’.
But, since I just painted the holes today, I can’t glue pennies down in that section yet. So, rather than be constantly a day behind in the mudroom, I’m going to go out tomorrow and catch up: glue those pennies down, and then friday I’ll be able to go back out and do the protective enamel in both areas.
Except! I keep forgetting I discovered a hole in the center of the front floor area where rust has clearly eaten through, so now I need to look into repairing that hole, preferably without welding. That might put me another day behind, but I hope not.
So hey, have some pictures!
