Simplicity
She didn’t love him anymore, she knew that. She didn’t love any of them, hadn’t for some time. This was what she needed, her mind said behind closed eyes. Her arm raised, she took a deep inhale. With a minor flexing of her wrist she swept the shelf clean. No more. She opened her eyes and they were all gone. Life was suddenly simpler. Her breath rushed out as her back relaxed, and a brief cathartic sob broke free, clearing the smoke.
She turned to the mirror.
This is what she needs, her mind said as she closed her eyes and began to breathe.
