New Equipment: BookletMaker 1000E
Picked up another piece of used equipment for the garage Print Shop today, an MBM BookletMaker 1000E. It’s an electric folder/stapler that can assemble 1000 booklets an hour, apparently! It can handle any size paper up to 11″ wide, so minicomics and digest sized zines are well within it’s capabilities. I gave it a test run and it staples like a champ, though I have to get the hang of controlling it with the foot pedal.
The only issue is that the rubber rollers are completely degraded and need to be replaced. This is an older unit, there’ve been some revisions since this one was made, which is making it difficult to source these replacement parts, but I’ve got leads on a couple places that will refurbish rollers if you send them the original core, so I might be able to go that route. I’ll get it figured out, I’m sure, and then I will literally be a booklet-making machine!
